Restoring Dignity to Children Entering Foster Care
Bonnie’s Closet is a dedicated foster care resource ministry providing emergency clothing packs, essential supplies, and community support to vulnerable children and the families who open their hearts to them.
Our Story & Heart
When a child is removed from their home and placed into foster care—often in the middle of the night—they frequently arrive with nothing more than the clothes on their back, or with their few belongings carried in a black trash bag.
Bonnie’s Closet was established under the spiritual and organizational guidance of First Free Will Baptist Church of Tampa to change that reality. We believe that no child should feel like a case number, and no foster family should have to navigate a sudden placement alone.
Our central motto, “Supporting Those Who Say ‘Yes’,” reflects our commitment to surrounding foster parents, kinship caregivers, and social workers with the practical resources, prayer, and community encouragement they need on the front lines.
Why This Ministry Matters
The child welfare crisis is not happening somewhere far away—it is right here in our local Tampa neighborhoods.
Hillsborough County Youth
In our local county alone, over 1,100 children are living in out-of-home foster care on any given day, making Hillsborough one of the highest-need regions in Florida.
National Foster Care System
Across the United States, hundreds of thousands of youth navigate the foster care system annually due to family instability, neglect, and sudden emergency removals.
Emergency Fulfillment
Bonnie’s Closet bridges the immediate gap by delivering tailored 3-day clothing packs, new socks, underwear, pajamas, and hygiene packs quickly after placement.
How Will You Partner With Us?
